This year, HoMMUNC XL is proud to work with the Kingsbridge Heights Community Center (KHCC) as our conference service learning partner. Founded in 1972, KHCC is a vital part of its local Bronx community. Per its mission statement, KHCC “embraces and empowers community—from cradle through career—to develop passions and potential, and build durable pathways towards purpose, prosperity and well-being.” KHCC provides several critical services for underserved and underprivileged Bronx residents, including an early childhood program, youth services, information sessions for foster families, English classes for non-English speakers, and initiatives to facilitate food and nutrition access. Located nearby, Horace Mann has been a strong partner of KHCC for several years, working with its staff in after-school service programs and grade-wide service learning days.
